Your Free Guide to Changing Your Planet Fitness Home Club

Understanding Planet Fitness Home Club Settings

Planet Fitness offers members the option to set a "home club," which is the primary location where you plan to work out most often. Your home club is important because it determines which facility you'll use regularly and can affect certain membership features and pricing options. When you join Planet Fitness, you select a home club during the registration process, but this choice isn't permanent — you can modify it at any time.

A home club functions as your base location within the Planet Fitness network. The company operates over 2,400 locations across the United States and Canada, so many members have multiple options nearby. Your home club designation helps the company understand usage patterns and manage facility capacity. It also determines which club's amenities, class schedules, and equipment availability you're most familiar with.

Different Planet Fitness locations have varying amenities, even though they share the core membership model. Some clubs feature additional equipment, specialized training areas, or extended hours compared to others. By designating a home club, you're essentially telling Planet Fitness where you intend to spend most of your gym time. This information helps staff at that location understand their member base and plan accordingly.

The home club system is straightforward but often misunderstood by new members. Many people don't realize they can change their home club or aren't aware of what designation their current membership has. Understanding this system helps you get the most out of your membership and take advantage of all available locations when needed.

Practical takeaway: Your home club is the Planet Fitness location you designated as your primary workout facility. You can change this designation whenever your circumstances change, such as moving to a new area or finding a different location more convenient.

How to Access Your Account Information Online

Planet Fitness provides members with online account access through their website and mobile app. To view or modify your home club, you'll need to log into your member account first. The process begins at the Planet Fitness website (planetfitness.com) where you'll find a login section, typically located in the upper right corner of the page. You'll enter the email address or username associated with your membership along with your password.

If you don't remember your login information, Planet Fitness offers password recovery options. You can request a password reset using your email address. The company will send you a link to create a new password. This process typically takes just a few minutes and allows you to regain access to your account without visiting a physical location.

The mobile app provides another convenient way to manage your membership. Available for both iPhone and Android devices, the Planet Fitness app lets you access many of the same account features as the website. You can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once installed, you'll log in using the same credentials as your online account.

After logging in through either the website or app, you'll see your account dashboard. This screen displays your current membership status, billing information, and other important details. The interface is designed to be straightforward, showing your most relevant information at a glance. Navigation menus guide you to different sections where you can update personal information or modify membership settings.

Keep your login information secure and don't share it with others. If you use the app on a shared device, remember to log out when finished. Planet Fitness uses standard security practices to protect member information, but your password is your first line of defense against unauthorized account access.

Practical takeaway: You can view and manage your Planet Fitness account through the website at planetfitness.com or the mobile app. Log in with your email and password to access account settings where you can find your current home club information.

Locating Your Current Home Club Setting

Once you're logged into your Planet Fitness account, finding your current home club setting requires navigating to the account or membership settings section. The exact location varies slightly between the website and app, but the principle remains the same. On the website, look for a menu option labeled "Account," "Profile," "Membership," or "Settings" — these are typically found in the upper navigation area or in a sidebar menu.

In the mobile app, you'll generally find this information by tapping a profile icon or account menu, often represented by a person silhouette or gear icon. Once you access the account section, look for membership details or profile information. Your current home club should be listed alongside other membership details like your membership type, billing date, and account status.

Some Planet Fitness accounts display the home club information prominently on the main dashboard, while others require you to navigate to a specific "Membership Details" or "Club Information" section. If you're having trouble locating this information, the account page typically includes a search function or help section. You can search for terms like "home club" to navigate directly to relevant settings.

The home club information displays the name of your designated location and may include additional details like the club's address, phone number, or hours of operation. This listing confirms which facility is currently set as your primary location. Some accounts also show when the home club designation was last changed, giving you a record of your membership history.

Pay attention to the specific club name displayed. Planet Fitness locations use standard naming conventions based on their geographic location, such as "Planet Fitness - Downtown [City Name]" or "Planet Fitness - [Neighborhood]." If you're unsure whether you're looking at the correct location, cross-reference the address shown with your memory of where you joined or where you typically work out.

Practical takeaway: Navigate to your membership details or account settings in the Planet Fitness website or app. Your current home club will be listed there, showing you which location is currently designated as your primary facility.

Steps to Change Your Home Club

Changing your home club at Planet Fitness is a straightforward process that most members can complete within a few minutes. Once you've located your current home club information in your account settings, look for an option to "Change," "Edit," or "Update" your home club. This option is typically displayed as a button or link near your current club's information.

Clicking the change option will usually open a selection screen showing available Planet Fitness locations. The system typically displays clubs geographically organized by location or allows you to search by city or zip code. You'll see a list of nearby facilities along with their addresses and hours. Browse through the options and select the location you want to designate as your new home club.

Some Planet Fitness accounts let you search for clubs using various filters. You might search by entering a city name, zip code, or neighborhood. The system displays matching locations with relevant details. As you review options, consider practical factors like distance from your home or workplace, facility size, and hours of operation. Read the listings carefully to ensure you're selecting the correct location if multiple clubs exist in your area.

After selecting your new home club, the system will ask you to confirm your choice. Review the selected location's name and address to ensure accuracy before confirming. Once confirmed, your account updates immediately. Some systems display a confirmation message saying something like "Your home club has been updated." Others simply return you to your account page where you can verify the change took effect.

The change becomes effective right away in most cases. You don't need to wait for processing time or contact the club directly. However, it's worth noting that changing your home club frequently isn't necessary. This setting is designed for members who want to establish a primary location, not for members who regularly rotate between different clubs. Your Planet Fitness membership typically grants access to all locations regardless of your home club designation.

Practical takeaway: Find the option to change your home club in your account settings, select a new location from the available list, and confirm your choice. The change takes effect immediately in your account.

Reasons Members Change Their Home Club

Members choose to change their home club for various practical reasons. The most common reason is relocation — when someone moves to a new house or apartment, they often select a Planet Fitness location closer to their new home. Changing the home club makes sense in this situation since they'll be working out at a different facility regularly. A member who relocates across town might update their club from "Downtown Location" to "Westside Location" to reflect their new proximity and expected usage patterns.

Career changes also drive home club modifications. When someone starts a new job or changes their work schedule, their gym routine may shift. A person who previously worked out near their home might start working in a different area and decide to visit a Planet Fitness location near their workplace instead. This change makes their
